OneLove
The recent chain of disasters in Japan have awakened many–awakened us to the frailty of our own existence–awakened us to our own selfish wants when others are so desperately in need.
In an effort to show our concern and love for our brothers and sisters in Japan, my students decided to do a little project. They chose first to make a poster. Something that could include a “part” of them–their hands and words. Then they wanted to connect with the people of Japan. They chose origami birds. They made pelicans. In Klamath, our city bird is the pelican–a most appropriate connection. When all was said and done, we made this video. If you know anybody, any schools, any child in Japan, please share this with them.
Our hearts yearn for your recovery. Your unity and love as a country, as one family, is an example to us all. We are praying for you, our dear friends in Japan.

Thank you for this – it is beautiful. I will share!
Thank you for sharing. We hope the message makes it to those we hope will hear it. We are still thinking about our friends in Japan.
Dear Mr. MacDonald’s Class:
That is an amazing video. It inspired us to help Japan. The song went well with the movie. Big inspiration from your class! We are now going to make our own project and when we finish, we will share it with you.
Thank you for sharing your video with the world!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Venosdale’s Class
Hillsboro, MO
We can’t wait to see it. We will be posting all this on our class/student blogs. We would love to have you share there too–www.millsmustangs.com
This video reached me via Japan thtough Earthquake information sharing group for English speakers residing in Japan. It was very touching, encouragement for my countrymen. It is nice that we are not alone….Thank you!
I am so glad that it has reached Japan. I hope that it can reach many more of your countrymen. We truly feel like you are part of our family. We are praying for a speedy recovery. Japan’s sense of community and family is an example to us all. If anyone can overcome such a chain of disasters, it is Japan and it’s people. God bless you.
Beautiful.. I am touched and teary-eyed. Thank you for sharing.
Joan, I’m so glad you got to see this. To be honest, a lot of our conversations have inspired me to bring more of these learning opportunities into the classroom. So, thank you for sharing your heart and ideas with me.
I waited in both fear and hope, waiting for word from my wife’s aunt in North east Japan. Finally a week ago word came she was OK. I could speak with her for only 40 or 50 seconds since she was calling from an emergency phone set up for people like her to contact their loved ones. We still wait to hear from her again but phone lines are down.
It is a relief to know that she is OK and that there are other like you who are thinking of us.
I am very relieved to hear that your wife’s aunt is doing well. I hope that she is able to stay in contact with you as the country begins to rebuild. I appreciate you taking the time to view and comment on this post. It truly means a lot to my class that their message is reaching those affected by the disasters. God bless.
It is no surprise to me that these students were and are inspired to demonstrate such compassion and understanding for strangers beset by a disaster such as the earthquake/tsunami recently experienced in the country of Japan. I am very proud of these Mills students and their teachers. They took the time to acknowledge the suffering of others. They took the time to recognize that the experiences of a group of people from a land foreign to our own are important, and deserve our attention, compassion, and timely assistance. Job Well Done… MacStover 5th grade!
Thank you Mary. The kids amaze me. I am so glad that they were able to complete this. In all, it is about reaching out to members of our world family and making sure they know that we are thinking about them and have them in our prayers.
I loved the video! You guys did such an amazing job. You have touched so many people with this video, and I think it is amazing that it has made it all the way to Japan. Good work…your class has shown such love for people in Japan, and I know that the message is true and from the heart. You are all wonderful!
Thanks Yaz. We are glad that the message has made it around the world.
Thanks for sharing this video your classroom created.
The message is very heartwarming.
Feel proud of yourselves … as proud as your teachers and parents are of each of you.

It was very well put together and a very thoughtful effort. I posted this on my facebook and had friends from Idaho comment on your work. Your efforts are recognized and appreciated!!!
To say I am proud of the students at Mills is an understatement. I am blessed to work for and with our students and teachers.
I cry when I watch this video…because you remind me to appreciate what I have…to have compassion for those we share this world with, especially when they face the kind of tragedy experienced by the people of Japan. I am reminded that I can care more, I can do more.
I also wish Yuki and the people of Japan a speedy recovery.
Thank you to all in the MacStover classroom.
Dang! Mills is awesome!!!!
